Privacy Policy

SwiftCater is an online catering marketplace based in Saskatchewan. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It applies to swiftcater.ca and to orders placed through it.

We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

What we collect

When you place an order — your name, email address, phone number, the delivery address for the event, the event date, time and headcount, what you ordered, and any instructions you add such as allergy notes.

If you create an account — your name and email address. You can order as a guest instead, in which case we hold only the order details above.

If you run a restaurant on SwiftCater — your business name and legal name, contact details, kitchen address, and any tax registration numbers you enter. If you set up direct deposit, your banking and identity details are collected by Stripe, not by us.

Automatically — basic technical information our hosting and error logging produce, such as the pages requested and approximate location derived from an IP address.

We never see or store your card number. Card details are entered directly into a form hosted by Stripe and never reach SwiftCater's servers.

Why we collect it

To pass your order to the restaurant so they can prepare and deliver it
To take payment and, where necessary, issue a refund
To contact you about an order — a question, a change, a problem
To work out what each restaurant is owed and pay them
To keep records we are required to keep, and to detect fraud

If you create an account you may also receive occasional email about SwiftCater. You can unsubscribe from those at any time, and doing so does not affect messages about an order you have placed.

Who we share it with

The restaurant fulfilling your order. They receive your name, contact details, the delivery address, the event details and your instructions. They need all of it to cook and deliver your food. Each restaurant is an independent business and handles that information under its own practices.

A delivery driver, where SwiftCater arranges delivery — limited to what is needed to deliver the order.

Our service providers, who process information on our behalf: Stripe for payments, Supabase for hosting and the database, Resend for sending order emails, and Vercel for serving the website.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Where it is stored

Our providers operate infrastructure in Canada and elsewhere, so your information may be stored or processed outside Canada — including in the United States. Where that happens, the information may be accessible to courts and law enforcement in that country under its laws. We use established providers who contractually commit to protecting it.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept while they are needed for the order, for accounting and tax obligations, and for resolving disputes — generally several years, as Canadian record-keeping rules require. Account details are kept until you ask us to delete the account. Marketing contact details are removed when you unsubscribe.

Your choices

You can ask us to:

Tell you what personal information we hold about you
Correct anything that is wrong
Delete your account and the information tied to it, except records we are required to keep
Stop sending you marketing email

Email owner@swiftcater.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

Cookies and local storage

SwiftCater does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The site stores a small amount of data in your browser to keep you signed in and to remember the contents of your cart. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Where a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
